Investing in the Future: ICC Partners to Expand IT Job Opportunities in Central Illinois
The US Economic Development Administration announced this morning that Illinois Central College was the recipient of nearly $15 million to develop an IT certification ecosystem in Central Illinois. This grant comes as part of the American Rescue Plan to develop training programs that support local economies and place an additional 50,000 workers in quality jobs.
“We could not be more excited about what the Good Jobs grant will mean to Central Illinois. This nearly $15 million in resources will allow us to credential 1,000+ IT professionals who will be placed into or retained in quality jobs through a collaborative effort across higher education, businesses and community and economic developed organizations throughout the greater Peoria region,” said Dr. Shelia Quirk-Bailey, President of Illinois Central College.
The partnership for the Illinois Central College Hired! IT Workforce Accelerator will be holding a press conference involving all our partners the week of August 15 to share the details of this opportunity with the community. The details of this press conference to be held on ICC’s Peoria Campus will be shared next week.
