Sheena Seizes Her Chance for Success

After dedicating years to raising her two children as a single mother, Sheena decided it was time to invest in her own future by returning to school. Her motto is, “It’s never too late to conquer your goals,” and at ICC, she’s doing just that. 

Initially uncertain about what she wanted to do, Sheena explored various medical field certifications and discovered the Central Sterile Service Technician pathway at ICC. She was thrilled to find a 10-credit-hour certificate program that could prepare her to earn an associate degree in Surgical Technology, a field she is passionate about. 

I would definitely recommend ICC to other people because the teachers and staff are very encouraging and helpful.

As a first-generation college student, Sheena is extremely grateful for the support she has received from her instructors at ICC. Sonya Conton has been most impactful, ensuring a positive learning experience for all her students and offering dedicated support both in and out of the classroom. Sheena also values the responsiveness and assistance provided by her advisors.  

With her oldest child heading to college and her youngest soon to follow, Sheena is drawing inspiration from her family and following her dreams. Reflecting on her journey in the CSST program, Sheena advises fellow students: “Never hesitate to ask questions. The teachers are there to help you.”
