Phi Theta Kappa: Tionna’s Catalyst for Transformation

August 2, 2024

When Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honors society invited Tionna, who had achieved a 4.0 GPA, to join, she did not realize how membership could change her life. Reflecting on her initial surprise, Tionna admits…

I had no idea of the opportunities Phi Theta Kappa had to offer.

Tionna, PTK Honors Student

The support and resources provided by PTK have been instrumental in her academic and personal journey.

After joining PTK, Tionna seized the opportunity to apply for several scholarships.  When she was selected for the All-Illinois Academic Team, she was shocked and overwhelmed with a sense of accomplishment. As a single mother working a full-time job and going to school full-time, Tionna sometimes struggles to focus on her studies. Being selected for the All-Illinois Academic Team has validated her hard work and motivated her to continue pursuing her goal of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Driven by a desire to improve her and her son’s future, Tionna made the decision to pursue a career change later in life. She says, “My passion to help others is what drives me to pursue my education in the healthcare field.” She sees a career as an LPN as a way to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives and a significant step toward personal growth and professional fulfillment.

Tionna’s story is a testament to the life-changing impact of academic honor societies like PTK, which offer students the resources and encouragement needed to achieve their dreams and make a lasting impact in their communities.
