Illinois Central College Appoints Angie Hummels as Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Recruiting

February 10, 2026

Illinois Central College has appointed Angie Hummels as Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Recruiting, bringing a seasoned Central Illinois communications leader to advance enrollment and strengthen the College’s connection to the region. She began her role on February 2.

Hummels brings more than 20 years of experience leading marketing, communications, public relations, and recruitment initiatives across higher education, corporate, nonprofit, and media organizations. At ICC, she will oversee admissions, marketing and communications, recruiting, and digital and print strategy, with a focus on integrated, data-driven enrollment and brand growth aligned to the College’s Strategic Plan.

Most recently, Hummels served as a Public Engagement Field Manager for Illinois at Apex Clean Energy. Prior to that, she spent a decade at Caterpillar Inc, holding progressive leadership roles in global marketing communications, employer branding, event management, recruitment marketing, executive communications, and crisis communications. Her work included advising senior leaders on communications and media presence, overseeing community relations, and designing and delivering change management for large-scale systems integrations.

Her background also includes higher education experience at Bradley University, where she worked with the president’s office as a senior writer and executive speechwriter, as well as 12 years as an editor and a reporter with the Peoria Journal Star. Hummels holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, both from the University of Illinois.

ICC plays a critical role in expanding opportunity and transforming lives across the region. I am honored to join the College and excited to work alongside faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen enrollment, elevate ICC’s story, and deepen engagement with the students and communities we serve.
