Dominidre’s Success Starts with Support at ICC

June 4, 2025

Balancing school, work, and single motherhood isn’t easy—but Dominidre is making it work with determination, support, and a clear vision for the future.

Thanks to the Go Make a Difference! Scholarship from the ICC Educational Foundation, she’s pursuing her dream of becoming a registered nurse while building a better life for herself and her children.

“This scholarship came at a time when I was struggling not only to provide for my son as a single parent but to also keep up with my work while making ends meet,” Dominidre said. “It gave me the chance to focus on my studies and continue pushing forward toward my goals.”

The scholarship helped cover essential costs like transportation, uniforms, and school expenses—giving her the stability to stay on track. But the support she has found at ICC has gone far beyond finances.

“The support I’ve received at ICC has made all the difference. No one has ever given me this type of opportunity. Receiving this scholarship makes me feel visible, and more hopeful than ever. I have something to be proud of myself for.”

Dominidre, ICC Student

Through TRIO Student Support Services, Dominidre found mentors, tutoring, and a strong network of peers who encourage her to keep going. That spirit of perseverance and service has earned her a place on the Dean’s List with a 3.7 GPA. And she’s not stopping there. She plans to establish a healthcare foundation that provides high-quality, compassionate care to those in need—especially those who feel unseen.

Dominidre is also the first person in her family to earn a college degree—an achievement that fuels her motivation and pride.

“Thanks to ICC and the Educational Foundation, I’m doing something I never thought was possible,” she said. “This is just the beginning.”
