Ben’s Helpful Heart Leads to Career Calling

October 7, 2024

Growing up in Morton, Illinois, Ben was deeply influenced by his grandparents, whose love and guidance shaped his values of discipline and community service. His experiences in soccer and achieving Eagle Scout status further strengthened his commitment to helping others.

When Ben enrolled at ICC, he knew his future career needed to meet two goals: it must be something he could put his whole heart into and a way to make a difference in people’s lives. Nursing fulfilled both.

Lari was a great role model for what a nurse should be: friendly, positive, outgoing, and kind.

Ben, ICC Student

Reflecting on his experience at ICC, Ben is grateful for the supportive environment created by the faculty and administration. His instructors were responsive and attentive, offering valuable advice on study habits and time management.

This positive atmosphere, coupled with the College’s affordability and proximity to his hometown, made ICC a natural choice for Ben.

His ICC experience was further enriched by his certified nursing assistant instructor, Lari LaBello, whose energetic and positive approach to teaching left a lasting impression on him.

Lari’s example continues to inspire Ben as he follows his nursing path, reminding him to embody kindness and positivity in everything he does. For Ben, nursing isn’t just a career—it’s a calling—and with the support of ICC, he’s ready to pursue it wholeheartedly.
