43rd Annual Landscape and Garden Day
The Illinois Central College Horticulture program will host the 43rd Annual Landscape and Garden Day on Saturday, September 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the ICC Horticulture Land Lab on the East Peoria Campus. This free event is open to the public. Admissions staff will be available to assist students interested in a career in horticulture.
Landscape and Garden Day at ICC is one of my favorite events of the year.
Corinne Brown, Associate Dean of Agriculture and Industrial Technology
This year’s event theme is “Wellness in Bloom.” It will feature educational seminars and exhibits for gardeners of all levels and family-friendly activities.
Seminar topics include Mindful Gardening: Techniques for Stress Relief and Relaxation, Edible Landscapes: Growing Your Own Wellness, and Native Plants and Biodiversity: Supporting Ecosystem Health.
In addition, the newest winners of the All-America Selections will be showcased, featuring the best and brightest flowers and vegetables available for next year’s home gardens.
Corinne Brown, Associate Dean of Agriculture and Industrial Technology at ICC, said “this event showcases the beauty and benefits of our campus arboretum and gardens, a space that reflects the hard work of our horticulture program students and volunteers. The theme for this year’s event allows attendees of all ages to experience all the health benefits gardens can bring to our lives. The seminar topics we have scheduled will provide many ideas for creating relaxing spaces in your home landscape.”
There will be a plant sale featuring perennials and interior plants grown by students in the ICC Horticulture program, and the Student Association for the Environment will be raising funds by selling native plants. Visitors can also enjoy displays by local garden clubs, nurseries, and landscapers.
Parking is available along the east side of Campus Drive. Accessible parking is available in Lot G.
