Professor Titania Vargas will present three films from different eras of Latina activism which showcase the achievements of Latin American female writers Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Mexico (1651-1695); María Luisa Bombal, Chile (1910-1980); and Rosario Castellanos, Mexico (1925-1974). A discussion will follow about their courageous advocacy for gender equality and freedom of speech and their fight against social norms.
