ICC Class of 2008 (Communication)

Transferred to Eureka College

Director of Development, Bradley University

Tell us about the career path that led you to your current job.

I initially went to work in the Financial Industry as a Residential Loan Officer. I also volunteered at Eureka College on the Alumni Board helping with events and fundraising. After 7 years in the Financial Industry, I lost my job because the bank closed. During a conversation with the VP of Development at Eureka College, I was told that a Development Director position was posted. I applied for the position and was hired in 2019. After 2 ½ years at Eureka College, I heard about an opening at Bradley University as Director of Development for the College of Education and Health Sciences. That’s where I am today!

How did ICC shape your future or help you attain your professional goals?

I was in my 40’s when I decided to go back to school and get a degree. It had been a long time since I attended classes. ICC gave me the foundation I needed to pursue my Bachelors degree. My instructors were amazing and provided encouragement along my journey.

What advice would you give current students at ICC to succeed?

The best advice I can give you is “Don’t give up on your dream of an education. Once you have it, no one can take it away.”

Believe in yourself, follow your dream, ask for help if you need it!
