This area of study is intended for students planning to transfer to a 4-year college or university for a baccalaureate degree in physical education. Upon successful completion of the baccalaureate degree in Physical Education, graduates are qualified for positions as teachers, coaches or specialists in public and private elementary or secondary schools, colleges and universities as well as other social and recreational agencies which promote physical activity programs.

Students enrolled in the Associate in Science degree program must meet with their assigned academic advisor to plan a specific course schedule meeting Illinois Central College and personal requirements in addition to requirements for the institution to which transfer is intended.
Students who plan to pursue a K-12 teaching degree in order to teach physical education and/or coach, should follow those requirements outlined for the education major through the Arts & Behavioral Sciences Department.
