TRiO Student Support Services
TRiO Student Support Services is a free academic support program for students that is funded by the United States Department of Education through its TRiO Student Support Services initiative. The Student Support Services staff will help you find your way through the uncertainties of college by offering you direction, help, and support.
We offer free one-on-one tutoring. Other tutoring services and resource materials are available in the HELP Labs located on the East Peoria, Peoria and North campuses.
Financial Aid Assistance
Our advisors are liaisons between the Student Support Services student and the Financial Aid office. We also assist in applying for scholarships.
We have three full-time advisors to assist students with academic and career advisement in a personal support role.
Four-Year College Visits
We provide assistance in identifying and investigating four-year schools. We work with you to insure that you take the classes at ICC that will transfer to your school of choice. We arrange on-campus visits with recruiters from four-year schools and coordinate free college visits so that you have an opportunity to check out the school.
Two $1,500 Transfer Scholarships are awarded each year to Student Support Services students who successfully transfer to a four-year higher education institution.
We arrange visits to local (such as Peoria Civic Center events) and out-of-town cultural activities. We often go to Chicago and St. Louis, plus we do an annual Spring Break trip to various locations.
We sponsor a variety of educational workshops including note taking, study skills, financial aid, time management and budgeting. We also offer these workshops on an individualized one-on-one basis.
