The Professional Development Institute at Illinois Central College is a comprehensive training organization whose mission is to serve businesses and individuals by providing both open enrollment and customized, in-house or on-site, quality seminars and workshops. Through our dedicated staff, state-of-the-art technology, and community and academic resources, we seek to continuously improve our programs and services to our customers.
Adult Community Programs are (noncredit) workshops and programs on a variety of topics, designed to give community members opportunities to learn something new. Topics include history, art, computers, language, gardening, crafts, cooking, film, fitness, home, and special interests. There are also day trips and special events. Unless otherwise stated, programs are designed for adults 18 and over.
College for Kids is an annual summer program held at the East Peoria campus Monday thru Thursday for two weeks in June and two weeks in July. A variety of challenging, educational and creative classes are offered. Each 2 hour class is led by a highly qualified instructor. Club CFK is available from 3:15-5:00pm. Since CFK does not meet on Fridays, optional off-site Field Trips are available.
Illinois public high school juniors are REQUIRED to take the SAT exam at their high school in April 2017.
The State of Illinois has replaced the ACT college entrance exam with the College Board’s SAT for all Illinois public high school juniors. This Change takes place beginning with the 2016-2017 school year. Illinois Central College offers an SAT PREP course that will help students prepare for the test AND answer parents’ questions regarding the transition from ACT to SAT. The SAT PREP course also helps students gain knowledge in what scores and subject tests are required for college admission and teaches test-taking strategies.
