How to Apply
* In order for ICC to begin processing your financial aid information, you must first submit an ICC admission form.
First time FAFSA Applicants
You must apply for an FSA ID, made up of a username and password, to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your Federal Student Aid documents. If you are a dependent student, your parents must apply for an FSA ID as well. The FSA ID replaces the Federal Student Aid PIN.
You must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year you wish to apply for financial aid. To ensure we receive your FAFSA information, include our school code #006753.
The application process begins on October 1 and the priority deadline for ICC is March 1. Only applications completed by March 1 are considered for the FSEOG and FWS Grants.
Random selection for verification
Approximately four days after you have submitted your FAFSA to the federal processor, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) via e-mail. Some applications are selected for verification, which is indicated on your Student Aid Report and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number on your SAR may be flagged with an asterisk (*).
If your file is selected for verification, it is the responsibility of the institution to verify the information provided on your FAFSA. You will receive an email notification to your ICC student email letting you know you need to check your To-Do list in MyICC (eServices) for all times being requested. You must submit these documents in order for ICC to continue processing your application. You will not be eligible for any financial aid if these items are not submitted for review. Once your file has been reviewed and completed, you will receive an award email to your ICC email which will outline the types of financial aid awards for which you are eligible. At ICC, we do our best to begin sending financial aid award notices in April so you are able to make informed decisions regarding your education.
Using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool
The IRS Data Retrieval Tool automatically pulls your tax information from the IRS into your FAFSA. We highly recommend using the tool for a smoother financial aid process.
Why should you use the tool?
- Guarantees that the most accurate tax information is submitted.
- Reduces the chance of being asked to complete the verification process.
- If you are selected for verification, it’s the easiest way to complete any “Tax Transcript” task.
Who can’t use the tool?
- If you are married, but filed as “single” or “married-filing separately” for the requested tax year.
- If you filed too recently (within 3 weeks of attempting to use the tool).
- If you filed a 1040X amended tax form.
- If you filed a Puerto Rican or foreign tax return
