Illinois Central College to Host Ready to Work Expo
Illinois Central College will host the Ready to Work Expo on Thursday, June 9, from 4 to 6 pm, and Friday, June 10, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the East Peoria Campus. The expo-style event is an opportunity for potential students of all ages to discover ICC programs designed to get individuals Ready to Work in various high-demand, higher-wage careers.
Attendees will experience hands-on equipment demonstrations, tour labs and classrooms, engage with faculty, and learn the steps to enrollment.
“Currently, less than 40 percent of individuals over age 24 have a post-secondary credential in the Greater Peoria area, while 60 percent of regional jobs require a credential beyond high school. The Ready to Work Expo allows individuals in our community the opportunity to explore short-term certificates in high-demand industries, helping to strengthen the regional workforce pipeline,” said ICC President Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey.
These ICC programs, providing a pathway to in-demand careers, will be present: Agricultural Science and Technology, Automotive Technology, Caterpillar Dealer Services Technology, CNC Machine Operator, DPET, GM ASEP, Graphic Communications, Horticulture, HVAC, Industrial Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Welding, Highway Construction Careers Training, Solar Pipeline Training, Secure Software Development, Truck Driving Training, Pharmacy Technician, Community Healthcare Worker, Cannabis Dispensary Operator, and Computer Networking.
