ICC Welcomes Dr. Laura Friesenborg in Newly Created Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness Role

ICC welcomed Dr. Laura Friesenborg, of Forest City, Iowa, in its new Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness role. Dr. Friesenborg’s first official day at ICC was Mon., Jan. 29.

In this newly created position, Dr. Friesenborg has primary responsibility for the implementation of the college’s strategic plan, will lead the Department of Institutional Research and Planning, and will serve as chief strategy advisor to ICC President Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey.

“I am pleased to have Dr. Friesenborg at ICC and look forward her vision in moving the college forward to meet the needs of our students and community,” said ICC President Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey. “Her diverse background is well-suited to the processes of strategic planning, innovation, and the future of the college’s role in the region.”

“I am thrilled to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to advance the strategic plan and guide ICC toward a successful new future,” said Dr. Friesenborg. “Together, we will research, design, implement, and evaluate strategies to support student outcomes and enhance our service to ICC’s region.”

Dr. Friesenborg holds a doctorate in Organization Development from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis; a master’s in Industrial Relations/Human Resource Management from Iowa State University; Ames; a bachelor’s in psychology and sociology from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa; and an associate’s in Liberal Arts from Waldorf College, Forest City, Iowa. She is a certified project management professional (PMP) and holds additional certifications in human resource management. Prior to coming to ICC, Dr. Friesenborg worked as a higher education consultant for Paul T. Bucci & Associates, Bethesda, Md. She has served in faculty and leadership roles at National Louis University, Chicago and Waldorf College. Her background also includes corporate human resource management experience gained at TSB Bank, Forest City, Iowa; and ING in Des Moines, Iowa. She is experienced in writing and administering grants, online learning, and curriculum and assessment design.
