ICC Vaccination Update
Dear ICC community,
Governor Pritzker announced yesterday Illinois is mandating the COVID-19 vaccine/testing for higher education students and employees. The mandate comes as a result of COVID-19 and the Delta variant’s alarming resurgence of cases and hospitalizations. Illinois Central College must comply with this new mandate.
Per the mandate, all employees and on-campus students will either become vaccinated or follow a weekly COVID testing protocol. ICC is working to schedule additional on-campus vaccine clinics in the near future and will share details as soon as they are available. Free, on-campus testing through SHIELD Illinois will be provided at ICC beginning on Tuesday, September 7 on the Peoria and East Peoria campuses. We are looking into SHIELD testing sites in Pekin. We have requested expanded testing hours on campus. Testing details will be forthcoming next week.
If you have received the vaccine, you’ll be asked to upload a photo/copy of your vaccination card into an online form, which is currently being configured. If you have not received the vaccine, you are encouraged to do so and would report it in the same vaccination online form. If you were vaccinated in Illinois and lost your vaccination card, the state has launched a Vax Verify portal to obtain your information. Directions on submitting via the online form will be available next week. Free and safe COVID-19 vaccinations are widely available. A listing of local vaccination clinics/sites is available here.
If you have a medical or religious reason not to vaccinate, or simply choose not to, you will be required to submit a waiver form and begin the weekly testing protocol. There is no waiver to bypass the testing protocol. The testing protocol is a non-invasive saliva test. Directions on submitting the online waiver form will be available next week. All employees and on–campus students must complete either the online vaccination form or the waiver form.
Illinois Central College strongly encourages all eligible to become fully vaccinated to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the Delta variant in our community. Since March of 2020, our top priority has been the health and safety of our students, employees, and community. We have adapted and taken necessary steps to prioritize everyone’s safety. Again, all employees and on-campus students must either become vaccinated or complete the weekly testing protocol.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to health and safety. I ask everyone to continue granting grace to yourself and one another as we navigate this together. Thank you in advance for doing your part to keep our ICC students, employees, and community healthy and safe.
All the best always,
Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey
Illinois Central College President
