October Technology “Unconference” Highlights “Augmented Reality”
Emerging Technologies “Unconference”
Demonstration of Augmented Reality presented by Anton Peck of One Fire Media
Tuesday, October 22
Room 212C/D, East Peoria Campus
You’re invited to join this demonstration and discussion of augmented reality. If you’ve ever tried to imagine something, anything, sitting on your desk in front of you, then you’ll love what augmented reality can do. AR (as it’s called) is a way of seeing things such as information, videos, and 3D models from the screens of our phones or tablets, keyed to objects in the real world. These bits of information are anchored to the image in your camera allowing you to interact with the world around you in ways that you might find pretty amazing. Anton Peck will be talking about AR, along with showing a couple of demonstrations, and answering any questions you might have about what it is, and where it’s going. Following the demonstration, we will discuss how we might integrate AR into teaching.
This is the second in a series of three “unconferences,” where the participants create the agenda for the meeting. All of the “unconferences” focus on cutting-edge technologies that may be useful or of interest to ICC faculty, staff, and students. The next “unconference” is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26, at the same time and location. Watch for details.
For more information, or if you are interested in presenting at future “unconferences,” please contact Mark DuBois at [email protected] or (309) 694-8432.
