January Update

Dear ICC colleagues,

I hope your winter break was full of peace and joy.  I want to welcome everyone back and share updates as we begin a new semester.

Celebration of Learning

The Spring 2020 Celebration of Learning (COL) is Wednesday, January 15 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center, East Peoria Campus.  A continental breakfast will be available from 7:30 to 8:30 am.  View the day’s schedule at icc.edu/col.

Please join us as we celebrate our successes and provide college-wide updates.  If you are unable to attend in person, join through the livestream link at icc.edu/col.

Staff Updates

I am delighted to welcome my new assistant Lori Sutton.  Lori comes to us from the Salvation Army and has a wonderful background for this role.  Involved in the community, she has been a source of energy behind regional fundraising for juvenile diabetes.

While Dr. Deb Garrett is serving as the Interim VP of Student Success, the search for the new VP will begin this month.

Employee Directory

With new faculty and staff on board, I want to share an easy way you can find new employees and their contact information.  The Employee Directory, located on ICC’s Intranet, allows you to search for employees by department or by full or partial first or last names.  Instructions for accessing and using the Employee Directory are available on the Faculty & Staff web page.

Cougar Kudos

The Employee Engagement committee has been busy recognizing the many Cougar Kudos nominees on the East Peoria and Peoria campuses.  Over 100 faculty and staff members were nominated in November and December alone.  Outstanding!  Congratulations to all the Cougar Kudos nominees.

Remember, nominations can come from students, faculty or staff at icc.edu/cougar-kudos.

ICCB Promising Practices

I’m excited to share Illinois Central College is featured in Illinois Community College Board’s (ICCB) Promising Practices in Illinois Career Pathways recent publication.  ICC was chosen as the model community college for Earn and Learn opportunities.  The article highlights ICC’s industry partnerships in the Industrial Maintenance apprenticeship program, outcomes and sustainability, and improving career pathways.

What a great opportunity to highlight some of the great work being done at ICC.  Congratulations to all.

I’m looking forward to all we’ll accomplish together this year, and thank you for the incredibly valuable work you do for our students and community.  I hope to see you at next Wednesday’s Celebration of Learning.

All the best,

Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey
