January Dates Set for TAP Review
ICC offers a TAP (Test of Academic Proficiency) Review for all college students enrolled in an education preparation program. The Illinois Basic Skills test is now the Test of Academic Proficiency. This test or the ACT Plus Writing exam must be passed in order to receive a teaching license in the state of Illinois. The TAP Review is beneficial for all education preparation students who have never taken the exam and those taking the TAP again to pass a specific subtest.
Four three-hour sessions will be offered before the TAP is scheduled. The review includes test-taking strategies and techniques as well as a review of basic skills in reading comprehension, language arts, writing and math. Each night will cover a different subject area.
The ICC TAP Review will meet on the following dates from 6 – 9 p.m. on the ICC North Campus in Hickory Hall: Thursday, January 2, 2014; Tuesday, January 7, 2014; Wednesday, January 8, 2014; and Thursday, January 9, 2014.
The TAP Review is $85 and includes all classroom materials. Individual classes (subject areas) may be taken at a cost of $30 each. To register, call the ICC Corporate and Community Education Department at (309) 690-6900 or register online at: www.icc.edu/pdi/tapreview. Payment is required upon registration.
You must register for the TAP separately and may take the exam at ICC as well. Go to the Illinois Certification Testing System website for more information: http://www.icts.nesinc.com/index.asp. Choose the tab entitled “computer-based testing” and search for the ICC Testing Center.
