Illinois Central College Guest Artists Series Presents “Simply Streisand: Holiday Memories” December 18

2015-12-18-DelVillaggioEnjoy an evening of holiday music, support a worthy cause and earn a chance to win free tickets to a future event as the Illinois Central College Guest Artists Series presents award-winning tribute artist Carla DelVillaggio and her show Simply Streisand: Holiday Memories on December 18, at 7:30 pm, in the ICC Performing Arts Center in East Peoria.

Following her sold out performance in August 2014, DelVillaggio returns to the stage at ICC, this time with a holiday-themed show paying homage to “America’s greatest star,” Barbra Streisand. Streisand recorded two beautiful albums of holiday music, and this show highlights many of those amazing arrangements. From the stunning version of Silent Night that Streisand sang during the Concert in Central Park, to lovely contemporary songs such as My Grown-Up Christmas List, to several holiday standards and of course the brilliant and iconic arrangement of Jingle Bells, this show has it all.

Those attending the December 18 event can earn a chance to win tickets to a future ICC Guest Artists Series event by bringing a donation to the show for the Peoria Area Food Bank, the highlighted community partner for this performance. The community partner program, a part of the ICC Guest Artists Series, highlights a non-profit or community organization which has ties to the Guest Artists Series performance. Attendees who bring a donation to Peoria Area Food Bank will have their names placed in a drawing for a free pair of tickets to a future event (one entry per person); more details are available at ArtsAtICC.com.

DelVillaggio has been recognized numerous times for her uncanny tribute to “America’s greatest star.” She was awarded the Bea Fogelman Award of Excellence at the 2015 Sunburst Convention, an annual convention of celebrity tribute artists that happens in the Orlando, Fla., area. This award is voted upon by all of the previous esteemed recipients and Sherie Rae Parker, the daughter of Bea and one of the Top Tribute Artists in the world. DelVillaggio has attended the convention every year since 2006 and won numerous awards, including placement in the convention’s hall of fame by winning the “Best Overall Celebrity Re-Creation” award and the agents’ “Best Impressed” award three times each.

Pianist Chris Rottmayer returns with DelVillaggio as her accompanist.

Numerous reviewers have commented on how well DelVillaggio has the look and sound of Streisand down. The New York Post said seeing DelVillaggio’s show is “the next best thing to seeing Streisand herself.” While writing about DelVillaggio’s performance at the re-opening of the Bon Soir, the New York nightclub where Streisand was discovered, another reviewer said DelVillaggio has “a spooky ability to channel the icon—at times you would swear you were seeing a hologram of a teenage Streisand.”

As it does for all ICC Guest Artists Series events, CityLink provides Park and Ride service from Peoria for the performance. Buses leave Evergreen Square at 7 pm, to transport passengers directly to the ICC Performing Arts Center. Buses return to Evergreen Square immediately after the show. The cost is $1 each way with senior citizens 65 years of age or older riding free.

Tickets to the show cost $25 for the general public and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at ArtsAtICC.com or by calling the box office at (309) 694-5136.
