ICC employees, students participate in Central Illinois Fire/Rescue Training School
ICC faculty and staff (Mike Dant, James Bender, Greg Love, Mike Irrera, and Tony Wlodarski), along with a paramedic program students, recently participated in the Central Illinois Fire/Rescue Training School at the Washington Fire Department. The program offers low-cost training opportunities to local fire and EMS personnel. This is the second year in a row that ICC has participated in the two-day event sponsored by the Tazewell County Firefighters Association.
The EMS session was titled, “New Mama, Trauma, and Other Trauma.” ICC participants took both ambulances, all three of the College’s high-fidelity human patient simulators (Trauma HAL, Medical, and Victoria/Tory), and a medium fidelity child simulator to the training and presented sessions on routine and complicated childbirth, neonatal care, cardiac arrest, hemorrhage and shock, drug overdose, and pediatric immobilization.
The ICC team earned seven hours of continuing education through the UnityPoint Health EMS System for the presentation.
