ICC Curriculum Guide Receives Innovation Award
Congratulations to ICC Provost, Dr. Margaret Swanson, and her team for their recent recognition as innovators in the development of a new curriculum guide!
Their project, Development and Deployment of a One-stop Guide Addressing Curriculum Planning, Development and Assessment Processes, was recently awarded one of three 2015 Illinois Council of Community College Administrators (ICCA) Innovation Awards.
The guide was developed and piloted over the summer and fall 2014 semesters, with deployment college-wide in January 2015. The team found that one of the profound effects of the new guide was the increased communication among the key academic committees and in the creation of a system for sharing information.
The new guide is house in ICC’s Curriculum Development System (CDS) and serves as a prime example of taking best practice from around the country and designing a usable process. The guide may serve as a benchmark for other colleges in the future.
Team members included:
- Dr. Swanson – co-leader
- Lesley Zimmerman (Curriculum & Scheduling) – co-leader
- Career and Technical Education program directors and deans
- Faculty, staff and leadership from the following committees:
- Curriculum Committee
- Assessment of Student Learning Committee
- General Education Committee
- Career and Technical Education Committee
The College will formally receive the award at the ICCCA Conference luncheon on Thursday, November 19, in Bloomington.
