Health Careers Completes Successful First Regional Expo
ICC Health Careers held its first Regional Health Careers Expo April 18. Area high schools were invited to witness first hand a variety of real life health careers scenarios, with ICC students, faculty and staff playing the roles of patients. During each session, the high school students followed a designated patient through their individual treatment path.
Students witnessed a mock car accident, sports injury, hip replacement, asthma attack or a heart attack. Students also received labor market information, career information and a copy of the resource materials used in the scenarios. Twelve area high schools, including nearly 150 students took part in the exercises.
The Expo was a result of the partnership between ICC, the Economic Development Council for Central Illinois, Pekin Hospital, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Methodist Hospital, Proctor Hospital and the three regional Education for Employment (Perkins grant) administrators.
