Ditch the Textbook and Save Students Money – OERs in Community Colleges
Join Jessica Bastian and Cate Kaufman for the 6th annual ForwardFocus Conference at Illinois Central College. This year’s conference is dedicated to Open Educational Resources (OER) in community colleges.
As institutions struggle to cut costs and eliminate barriers to student achievement, librarians, faculty, and staff are called to work together to find innovative solutions. OER initiatives offer a promising path to overcoming budget constraints and textbook affordability issues for students.
We hope you will join us as we learn about ongoing OER initiatives at community colleges. The day will be spent discussing challenges, exploring faculty-librarian partnerships, and sharing strategies for implementing OER initiatives.
The conference is held at ICC Peoria Campus, with a virtual option for attendees to join us from their desk.
October 27, 2017 at ICC Peoria Campus or online via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
Registration closes on October 6, 2017. Register online today!
We have an exciting line-up of active breakout sessions related to the following OER areas:
- Defining OER in a Community College Context
- Open Pedagogy: Teaching and Learning with OER
- Strategies for Implementing OER Initiatives at your Campus
- Measuring and Communicating the Impact of OER
