“Between the Lines Program” Features Writings of Author Nicholas Sparks
Illinois Central College’s “Between the Lines” Program will present Let the Sparks Fly – The Passion-Infused Writing of Nicholas Sparks on Monday, February 2, at 2:30 pm, in Room 212 C/D on the ICC East Peoria Campus.
Brad Everett of the English Department and Pam Dewey of the Business Department join forces to explore author Nicholas Sparks’ art of emotional connection with the reader as well as his business sense in creating a highly successful writing career in the romance genre. Sparks is the author of one non-fiction book and 17 novels, nine of which have been adapted to film, including The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and Message in a Bottle. Join us as we discuss what makes this writer stand out in the field of modern romance writers and why our emotions (and wallets) respond to the stories he weaves.
“Between the Lines” is a lecture series presented by the faculty members of the English, Humanities and Language Studies Department at ICC. Since the series began in the fall of 1990, ICC has offered more than 100 presentations on a wide variety of literary topics.
The goal of the series is to offer literary presentations which will interest students and people in the community as well as promote reading literacy and scholarly study.
The programs are free and open to the public.
