2019 Celebration of Learning Employee Volleyball Tourney Champions Crowned

The history of sports is filled with many classic rivalries between two teams. Cardinals versus Cubs. Bears versus Packers. Duke versus North Carolina. While the rivalry may not have been at quite such an intense level, a pair of competing teams battled it out on the volleyball court to determine a champion in the 2019 ICC Celebration of Learning Employee Volleyball Tournament held January 11 in Lorene Ramsey Gymnasium in the CougarPlex.

Members of the gold team, which won the grueling best-of-five championship series, included: team captain Erika Schwiderski of Campus Police; Stacy Kidd, Arts & Behavioral Sciences; Loyd Kirby, Performing Arts Center; Corey Lyons, Enterprise Systems; Lisa Puent, Fitness Center; and Danyle Watkins, Business, Legal & Info Systems.

The runner-up blue team consisted of: team captain Paul Resnick, Humanities; John Armon, Math/Science/Engineering; Jeff Constable, Math/Science/Engineering; Brian Fischer, Humanities; Catherine Hardy, Learning Labs; Jordan Pruitt, Humanities; and Molly Walker, Purchasing.

In addition to an afternoon of vigorous activity and camaraderie with colleagues and employees from other departments, all participants earned five points in the ICC Wellness Works program.

Special thanks to ICC athletic director and volleyball coach Sue Sinclair and the members of the ICC volleyball team who assisted for all their efforts in setting up as well as officiating the tournament.
