Endowed Teaching Chair

The Dr. Thomas K Thomas Endowed Teaching Chair Program at Illinois Central College recognizes teaching excellence. Specifically, the program looks for teachers who exhibit distinction in one ore more of these areas:

  • Student-centered instructional philosophy
  • Commitment to teaching
  • Contribution to Illinois Central College’s mission and values
  • Instructional innovation
  • Impact on community

The Endowed Teaching Chair awards a stipend of up to $3,500 or equivalent in release time. The stipend supports faculty plans to improve instruction or enhance professional development. Successful candidates also receive an engraved plaque, with a medallion, and recognition at ICC’s Annual Employee Recognition Banquet.

The Endowed Teaching Chair is made possible through the Educational Foundation by the support of individuals, corporations, and organizations committed to the “art and science of teaching.” The Endowed Teaching Chair is named for retired ICC President, Dr. Thomas K. Thomas.

Eligibility

Full-time, tenured, and tenure-track faculty are eligible. Recipients must maintain continuous, full-time employment at ICC.

Application Process

  1. Candidates for the award must complete this application including a Professional Project Development Plan.
  2. Applications, including the letter of recommendation, are due in Academic Affairs by the end of day March 18. Submit application to Erin Bradshaw.
  3. Recipient(s) will be notified by mid-April.
