Novelists tell exciting, thrilling, scary and funny stories, with their books landing on bestseller lists. However, many non-fiction books provide just as many thrills, scares, and laughs. Authors such as Ron Chernow (Hamilton), Trevor Noah (Born a Crime) and Tara Westover (Educated) have written page-turning books, all becoming bestsellers as well. This presentation explores a variety of non-fiction genres and titles, including the ICC 2019-2020 “One Book, One College” title, How We Got to Now by Steven Johnson. Bring your list of suggested non-fiction for the rest of the group!
Between the Lines is a lecture series presented by the faculty members of the Humanities Department at Illinois Central College. Check out this season’s offerings and see if we live up to our mission statement, which is to serve our community by applying a scholarly lens to culturally relevant literary topics. That’s right… we’re going to aim our literary magnifying glass at some of the stories you’re reading, watching, and thinking about.
