Head Coach, Tony Wysinger, has long been part of Peoria’s great basketball tradition. After completing a stellar career at the University of Illinois, he was named to the All-Century team in the Peoria area. He holds the record for most assists in one game (16) and has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in Illinois basketball history.
Coach Wysinger begins his 21st year as Head Coach of men’s basketball. Since the 1999-2000 season, the Cougars have won the M-WAC (Mid-West Athletic Conference) title outright three times and have been in the championship games to go to Nationals six times in the last 15 years!. They have consistently finished in the top 10 defensively and top 10 offensively in the nation. During Coach Wysinger’s tenure at ICC, the Cougars have been able to establish school records in wins in a season (29) and consecutive wins in a season (15) as well as four straight 20 win seasons.
Coach Wysinger has been named Conference Coach of the Year three times and Region Coach of the Year twice as well as being named District 8 Coach of the year.
Assistant Coach - 26th year with ICC
Tim enters his 25th season as Assistant Men’s Coach for the Cougars. He also has coached at Robert Morris Peoria (2014-2018). He was Director of Basketball Operations for the Central Illinois Drive and Bloomington Flex (2011-2014) where they captured back to back PBL Championships. Tim has been inducted to the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame with three teams: Bergan High School Boys Basketball (1980), Illinois Central College Men’s Basketball (1981), and Bradley University Men’s Basketball (1986). Tim and his wife Kim have three children Kayla, Nick and Mason. He would like to thank them for their love and support
Assistant Coach - 2nd year with ICC
Coach Long is in his second year at ICC. Matt played men’s basketball three years at Illinois Central College from years 2014-2017. Before that he was a multi-sport athlete at Richwoods High school in Peoria. After his years at ICC he went to the University of North Carolina in Charlotte to finish his academic career. He has a huge passion for basketball and is very excited to continue his coaching career under Coach Wysinger.
Assistant Coach - 3rd year with ICC
Michael Grayer is a native of Peoria, Illinois and returning for his third season with Cougars Men’s Basketball. He is a Manual High School basketball alum with an Illinois State Basketball Runner Up title on his resume. He continued his career at Central Florida Community College and started in the NJCAA tournament twice before transferring to Quincy University to play for Steve Hawkins. While at Quincy, his team visited the NCAA Division II tournament two years in a row. Upon graduation he coached for two years in Florida before changing his focus and providing skills training to players who ventured on to collegiate and professional careers. Michael then returned to coaching at Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg. During the off-season he secured a coaching position at Marquette University where he developed the skills of young males preparing for their high school seasons. Michael would like to give thanks to God for the gift of basketball and his family for their enduring support.
