ICC’s Stoewer Named NJCAA All-American

Cougar Fans:

Congratulations to Summer Stoewer for being named an NJCAA 2nd Team All-American for the 2019-20 season.  Stoewer, a 5’7 guard from Normal Community, was an all-around crafty guard who stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 17.0 points, 5.3 rpg, 2.8 apg, and 2.6 spg to help the Cougars to a 25-7 overall record.  She also hauled in several other awards this season, as she was named the MWAC Conference Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Region, and made the Cougar Holiday Tourney Team.  In her two years for the Blue & Gold, she totaled 941 points, knocked down 154 three-pointers, helped ICC to a 57-10 record, and one national tourney appearance.

She is the first Cougar to be named an NJCAA All-American since Jemia Carpenter and Destiny Ramsey were first teamers in 2016; Abby Coates was named a WBCA All-American in 2019.

Our women’s basketball program has been successful because we recruit players who care more about team success than individual accolades but we’re always happy when big things like this happen.  Congratulations, Summer and team!
