Ladies Bounce #9 Bobcats in Milwaukee
Four players scored in double figures and the Blue Crew (ICC bench) came up big to help the #7 ICC women’s basketball team get an 80-69 win vs. #9 Bryant & Stratton on Friday night in Milwaukee. Ayanna Gibbs (20), Summer Stoewer (16), Camryn Stafford (10), and Maia Marshall (10) led the way on the offensive side of things as the Cougars fought off the persistent Bobcats. ICC also had 52 points in the paint and shared the ball well, dishing out 24 assists to score 33 baskets on the night to get the road win.
End of 1st: ICC 22, BSC 16
The Cougars got good post touches from Stafford & Gibbs (8 combined points) to open up things for Stoewer and Marshall on the outside (1 three-pointer each) to get started on the right track.
Halftime: ICC up 36-31
The Bobcats hung tough by nailing three three-pointers in the quarter. Gibbs stayed active inside and Sh’coria Metts and Stoewer drove the lane for scores to keep ICC ahead.
End of 3rd: ICC 56, BSC 53
Stoewer scored a basket and Marshall added another trey but BSC also kept attacking. The Cougars got big production from Catora Brown & Courtney Heffren as they combined for eight points (assists Josi Becker, Stoewer, & Moriah Ward) to keep a narrow lead.
Stafford found Gibbs inside on the first possession of the quarter and then Gibbs hit a jumper (assist Becker) that put ICC up 60-53. BSC drew to within 60-57 but the defense kicked in when the Cougars needed it most as Stoewer and Gibbs picked off passes which led to transition opportunities.
