Big 3rd Quarter, Stoewer, Marshall Lift Cougars over Braves

The #7 ICC women’s basketball team used a 26-0 run to start the 3rd quarter to post a 94-57 win at Ramsey Gym on Tuesday evening.  The Cougar pressed disrupted harrassed the Braves into 27 turnovers and Summer Stoewer (30 points) and Maia Marshall (career high 21 points) were the catalysts on the offensive end to get ICC back on the winning track.  The victory moves ICC to an 11-5 record while BHC fell to 10-5.

End of 1st quarter:  17-all

The Cougars shot out to a 9-4 lead behind a Stoewer layup, Marshall basket (assist Josi Becker), Camryn Stafford basket (assist Stoewer), and charge taken by Becker.  The Braves locked down on defense, however, taking three charges of their own to disrupt the Cougar offense.  ICC was only able to muster two Catora Brown baskets and two free throws by Jordyn Hare the final 4:00 minutes of the period.

Halftime:  ICC 40, BHC 34

The Cougars zeroed in on defense and Marshall sprung free for transition scores, netting 12 points in the quarter while Stoewer splashed in two treys three-pointer to give ICC a 36-23 lead with 4:12 remaining.  However, the Cougar attack stalled while the Braves heated up to keep the game tight.
