Women’s Basketball are “Stronger Together” while volunteering together
The ICC women’s basketball team participated in two community service events on Sept. 21 as they volunteered at the Loaves & Fish Soup Kitchen and the Lobster Boil Fundraiser.
In the morning, the team helped serve over 350 guests at Loaves & Fish at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Peoria. The ladies carried trays for guests to their table, bussed tables, served food and visited with the guests. FUMC has provided this mission for over 25 years, and also has a clothing locker, provides medical assistance, and hosts a church service for guests on every Saturday of the year.
Later that evening, the team helped prepare tables and then served lobster dinners to over 150 guests at the fundraiser for the Hult Center for Healthy Living on Knoxville Avenue. Hult has provided education, senior, cancer and mental health programs for Peoria-area residents since 1987.
The Cougars’ team theme this year is “Stronger Together” and they were happy to have had the opportunity to work together to help in the community.
