ICC Cougars Softball Host 7th Annual Alumni Game
It was a beautiful day for softball. The Illinois Central College Cougars softball team hosted their 7th Annual Alumni Game at the CougarPlex on Sunday, Oct. 8.
Almost 30 alumni, along with their family and friends, attended the game. The alumni represented over 30 years of the ICC softball program. When each player was announced they got to share their favorite memory from when they played, which brought back a lot of fun memories and inside jokes for each player.
Instead of a regular seven-inning game, four innings were played with fun surprises at each base. First base featured a selfie with coaches, Heather Doty and Kathy Holzhauer. Once an alum got to second base, there was a snack waiting from the infamous snack bucket. At third base, a Gatorade from the cooler. The snack bucket, of course, was the biggest motivation to get on base.
As the alumni enjoyed catching up and sharing memories from years past, there were a few babies and toddlers watching their parents in the stands. The Cougar softball family is continuing to grow and four of the youngest members attended the game. Heather Harper’s (’13-’15) son, Bryden, Shelby Lickiss’ (’11-’13) daughter, Halen, Justine Phillips’ (’10-’12) son, Liam, and Megan Bolen’s (’10-’11) daughter, Leighton. We can’t wait to see how much our family has grown by next year’s game. #Cougs4Life
