EAST PEORIA – Rebecca Palmer, Washington, was named the April 2014 Chapter Leader of the Month by the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS). Palmer majors in architecture at Illinois Central College and serves as president of the ICC student chapter of AIAS.
After attending an AIAS leadership conference, Rebecca was inspired to expand the opportunities and membership for the ICC chapter. Her efforts led to increased social events and activities for chapter members as well as increasing membership to this year’s roster of 21 members.
ICC advisor to the AIAS chapter Al Rusch says it is the first time a community college student has received the honor which is traditionally awarded to students enrolled in four-year colleges or universities.
In addition to her involvement in AIAS, Palmer also serves as an officer for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at ICC and holds the title of Miss Peoria-Metro with plans to vie for the title of Miss Illinois in June.Next: Tim Elder named ICC Distinguished Alumnus
