CTE Month : Balancing family and career

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month at ICC. This month ICC is highlighting students from various CTE programs.

Harshala Bhandari was very busy as a mother and homemaker, but she also wanted to pursue something for her own personal development.

“I was looking for a short course to refresh my knowledge which will help me in getting a better job.”

The online certification courses in the ICC Web Systems department were just what Harshala was looking for.

“This ICC online certification course is helping me achieve my goal. ICC online courses give me flexibility…I can do my studies [while] managing my time with my family.”

Currently, she is close to completing her Web Developer Certification, and plans to complete her Web Designer Certification after that.

Although she is completing her courses online, she is still active on-campus. Harshala is the President of the student-run Web Professionals Organization, which meets once a month to “exchange and share thoughts and knowledge about the technologies.”

“You can learn many things just attending these meetings,” she says.

As Harshala completes her certifications, she is looking toward a future career in web design.

“I want to become a successful Web Developer/Designer and later a Project Manager,” a job she says will not only match her interests, but also help her better to support her family.

At ICC, find a field that will fit your interests and help you reach your career goals. Learn more today!
