Illinois Central College’s “Between the Lines” program presents “Morality, Philosophy and Fun a la Dr. Seuss”

Illinois Central College’s “Between the Lines” Program will present “Morality, Philosophy and Fun a la Dr. Seuss” on Monday, December 2, at 2:30 pm in Room 212C/D on the ICC East Peoria Campus. Presenters are ICC associate professor Pam Dewey and ICC professor Andrianna Smyrniotis.

Many of us remember Dr. Seuss’ light-hearted, tongue-twisting rhymes voiced by the Grinch, the Lorax, Cat in the Hat, and Horton from our childhood and how his zany, delightful stories are still enjoyed by children today. Come and find out how Theodor Seuss Geisel instilled social messages such as war is dumb, vanity can get you into trouble, fear is borne of ignorance, and greed negatively affects our own future into his children’s literature. And you thought it was all in fun….

“Between the Lines” is a lecture series presented by the faculty members of the English, Humanities and Language Studies Department at ICC.  Since the series began in the fall of 1990, ICC has offered more than 100 presentations on a wide variety of literary topics.

The goal of the series is to offer literary presentations which will interest students and people in the community as well as promote reading literacy and scholarly study.

The programs are free and open to the public.
