Illinois Central College’s “Between the Lines” Program kicks off its fall 2013 season with “A Moviegoer’s Paradise: Glitz, Glam, and Fitzgerald’s Gatsby” on Tuesday, September 3, at 7 pm in Cedar Hall Room 134 on the North Campus.
This presentation will compare and contrast F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby with Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 film version. ICC faculty members Margot Vance and Jen Richrath will facilitate a discussion on whether or not the film lives up to the message, themes and general essence of the original novel and will compare and contrast characteristics between society of the 1920’s and of today.
“Between the Lines” is a lecture series presented by the faculty members of the English, Humanities and Language Studies Department at ICC. Since the series began in the fall of 1990, ICC has offered more than 100 presentations on a wide variety of literary topics.
The goal of the series is to offer literary presentations which will interest students and people in the community as well as promote reading literacy and scholarly study.
The programs are free and open to the public.ICC celebrates North Campus milestone with open house and tours
