ICC recently purchased “Spanish Dancer”, a Sculpture Walk Peoria piece created by former ICC Art Program student Jaci Willis of Peoria. The College purchased the sculpture through restricted funds from the Educational Foundation’s Fine, Performing and Applied Arts Fund and plans to place it in late spring at the ICC North Campus.
“Spanish Dancer” is currently displayed on the Sculpture Walk in the Peoria Warehouse District. Sculpture Walk is an initiative of ArtsPartners of Central Illinois, Inc.
Kari Schimmel, ICC dean of Arts and Communication, said of the purchase, “It is important to beautify public spaces with awesome art, and we wanted to participate in that initiative.”
The artist said her inspiration for “Spanish Dancer” was the flow of a flamenco dancer’s skirt, with the curved steel expressing the energy and power of the dancer as she moves.Next: CTE Month : Online learning for a new career
