Illinois Central College’s Arts and Communication Department will showcase fine art work, performances, and demonstrations during Arts Week 2014 from Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25 on the ICC East Peoria Campus.
The week kicks off Monday, April 21 at 9 a.m. with a demonstration by the Central Illinois Fiber Artists in the Atrium. This session is the first of more than 30 events scheduled throughout the week, including demonstrations, performances, art gallery displays, lectures, and more.
“Illinois Central College has a strong arts program with a diverse, rich history and offerings in many artistic areas,” said Chris Gray, dean of the arts and communication department at ICC. “Arts Week is an opportunity to showcase for the public both the arts and artists from a variety of disciplines in our department.”
A variety of events are slated for different times each day. Scheduled events include free portraits drawn by student artists; free lectures on a variety of art-related topics (such as “Saving Europe’s Cultural Heritage: The Monuments Men During World War II” and “Photographing Work for a Portfolio”); concerts and recitals by performing arts groups; a gallery crawl; and faculty demonstrations on stained glass, stage makeup, painting, origami, and ceramics.
