ICC Hosts Second City’s Nut-Cracking Holiday Revue November 29, Accepts Toys for Tots Donations at the Show

Enjoy an evening of laughs, help a worthy cause and earn a chance to win free tickets to a future ICC Guest Artists Series event when Chicago’s legendary comedy troupe, The Second City, performs its Nut-Cracking Holiday Revue at the ICC Performing Arts Center in East Peoria on Saturday, November 29, at 7:30 pm.

Since the 2011-12 season, a Community Partner — a non-profit or community organization with a connection to the particular Guest Artists Series performance – has been highlighted at ICC Guest Artists Series shows. Since Second City is performing a holiday-themed show, the Community Partner for the November 29 event is Toys for Tots.

To encourage donations and thank donors, those who donate a new, unwrapped toy prior to The Second City’s Nut-Cracking Holiday Revue on November 29 will be eligible for a drawing for two tickets to a future ICC Guest Artists Series event. One entry is allowed per person. Toys must be donated prior to the start of the show.

Those wishing to donate to Toys for Tots after the Second City event may still do so. The ICC Performing Arts Center will continue to accept donations to Toys for Tots when the box office is open until December 12. Normal hours of operation for the box office are from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and one hour prior to public events in the Performing Arts Center.

The Second City’s Nut-Cracking Holiday Revue delivers a healthy dose of seasonal satire with holiday humor. Nothing is too sacred for a performance that is the perfect alternative to the same old holiday shows. The show will provide audiences with the chance to see more of tomorrow’s stars of comedy today, performing hilarious satire and cutting-edge improvisation – all with a special holiday slant.

The show is rated R for some adult language and mature themes.

Founded in Chicago in 1959, The Second City has become the premier training ground for the comedy world’s best and brightest. The alumni list reads like a Who’s Who of American Comedy, as it includes: Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Horatio Sanz, Ryan Stiles, and current NBC Saturday Night Live cast member Cecily Strong, who performed with Second City at ICC in 2012.

As it does for all Guest Artists Series events at ICC, CityLink is providing Park and Ride service from Peoria. Buses leave Evergreen Square at 7 p.m. and transport passengers directly to the ICC Performing Arts Center. Buses return to Evergreen Square immediately after the show. The cost is $1 each way with senior citizens 65 years of age or older riding free.

Tickets for the Second City performance cost $30 for all ages and can be purchased online at ArtsAtICC.com. For more information or to purchase tickets by phone, call the box office at (309) 694-5136.
