EAST PEORIA — The Illinois Central College agriculture program will host its second annual Summer Field Day on Thursday, August 22, at 5:30 pm. Following a pork chop dinner served by students in the ICC Agri-Business Club, guests can take a guided tour to learn about the research plots on the East Peoria Campus. The evening will begin near the Horticulture Land Lab, near the Route 24 entrance to the college. Attendees should park near the arboretum/Horticulture Land Lab area in Parking Lot G.
This year’s ICC agronomy plots include research projects done in cooperation with companies like Monsanto and Beck’s Hybrids. The projects include: nitrogen rate study; soybean planting rate study; corn fungicide trial; soybean fungicide trial; soybean high level management trial; and herbicide trials (both corn and soybeans) that target Roundup resistant weeds.
Each stop on the tour will have a short program by an industry representative or an ICC faculty member or student to discuss the trial and any results. Guests may walk through the plots.
