EAST PEORIA – A sing-along version of “Grease” will be presented on Thursday, October 17, at 7 pm in the ICC Performing Arts Center, East Peoria. Guests should come ready to rock since the evening will also include a costume contest. Attendees are encouraged to come wearing appropriate 50s garb and ready to sing and have fun.
The “Grease” sing-along is presented by CommNet, the ICC student chapter of the National Communication Association. The event is free, but donations to CommNet will be accepted.
“Grease,” released in 1978 and based on the 1950s Broadway musical of the same name, has become a staple of popular American culture. The film starring John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, and Stockard Channing includes a cast of colorful and memorable characters and hit songs such as “You’re the One That I Want,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “Greased Lightning.” The PG-rated film does have some profanity and deals with a possible teenage pregnancy which attendees may consider if bringing children.
