Free lecture by ICC Alum on September 26 cover Market Research and steps to taking a new product to the market

Kim Blickenstaff, ICC Class of 1972, serves as president and chief executive officer of Tandem, a large bio-research firm in California. On Thursday, September 26, he will present a free lecture on “Changing An Industry – The Power of Market Research” from 12:30 – 1:30 pm in Room L422 on the East Peoria Campus. The lecture will be presented in the form of a webinar, and ICC alumni, current students and the community are invited.

kimDuring the session, this Spring Bay native will share his entrepreneurial spirit as well as the specific steps and strategies he has learned for taking a product to market.

His resume reads like a who’s who of the bio-tech field as he established a name for himself in the industry. Blickenstaff joined Tandem in August 2007, bringing more than 30 years of healthcare experience in finance, marketing management, sales and strategic planning. Prior to joining Tandem, he was Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Biosite Incorporated, a medical diagnostic company that was acquired by Inverness Medical Innovations for $1.8 billion in June 2007. Prior to founding Biosite, he held various finance, operations, research management, sales management, strategic planning and marketing positions with Hybritech Incorporated and Baxter Healthcare.

Blickenstaff has been active in the medical device and diagnostics industry over the last 12 years, serving on the board of directors for innovative, young healthcare companies such as SenoRx and MediVation Incorporated. In addition to his associate’s degree from ICC, he holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
