The Illinois Central College Guest Artists Series presents War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of World War II on Friday, May 23, at 7:30 pm, in the ICC Performing Arts Center in East Peoria.
The show is a sentimental journey through a way that redefined the world. This multi-media, living history cabaret is interspersed with actual correspondence of the time from soldiers and their families. In addition to headline news of the time, 22 songs from the period lift the mood and juxtapose the anguish of war.
Award-winning artists Serena Ebhardt and David zum Brunnen fill the stage with war-time memories and nostalgic tunes. This family show allows America’s “greatest generation” to celebrate as the next generation contemplates.
A shortened, one-hour version of War Bonds also will be performed as part of the ICC Mini-Matinee Series at 2:30 pm, on Friday, May 23.
The Peoria branch of the Disabled American Veterans is the highlighted community partner for this performance. The community partner program, a part of the ICC Guest Artists Series, highlights a non-profit or community organization which has ties to the Guest Artists Series performance.
Tickets for the evening Guest Artists Series performance cost $20 for the general public and $10 for students. Tickets for the one-hour Mini-Matinee afternoon performance cost $15 for all ages.
Tickets for both events may be purchased online at ArtsAtICC.com or by calling the Performing Arts Center box office at (309) 694-5136.Next: ICC Simplifies Summer Semester Registration and Adds Summer Semester Scholarships
