The Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) recently selected ICC Student Trustee Trevor Mileur as the Lincoln Academy of Illinois 2014 Student Laureate. This is the first time an Illinois Central College student has received the award since its inception in 1993.
Each year the board selects an outstanding student from each of the 56 colleges and universities participating in the Lincoln Academy to recognize overall excellence in curricular and extracurricular activities.
“We are very impressed with his academic and extra-curricular achievements, as well as significant community service,” ICCB Associate Director of Student Services Susan Drone said. “In his time at ICC, Trevor has established himself as a servant leader who powerfully enrolls and mentors others. We are confident he will represent the Illinois Community College System with the Lincoln Academy of Illinois in the same fashion.”
Trevor and Vice President of Student Services Dr. Tracy Morris travelled to Springfield for a November 1 ceremony at the Old State Capitol where he was presented the Student Laureate Medallion and a Certificate of Achievement, along with the Abraham Lincoln Civic Engagement Award grant in the amount of $1000.Next: Author Talk with Ernest Cline on Monday, November 10
