WOW to Brandy Thatcher
When Eileen Setti (adjunct faculty/academic advisor, Social Sciences) realized she would be presenting an online video to her sociology class during the college's recent bandwidth struggle, she knew the plans for her class were probably not possible. She had less than a week to find a solution or develop a "Plan B." She contact Brandy Thatcher to inquire about burning the video to a DVD. Brandy quickly confirmed that she could do it, that the task was possible without copyright infringement, and that Brandy had the needed software to make it happen. Eileen walked into her class and had no problem showing the video. Eileen wrote, "I know Brandy has many pressing deadlines, and I am so grateful she completed this task fo rme without hesitation. Her skill and attitude certainly wowed me!"

WOW to Deb Hart
An ICC student, Michael Kennedy, serves as the state vice president for Phi Beta Lambda and travels for the organization. The Student Activites Office helps with his travel accommodations and recently handled a hotel reservation for him which included filling out paperwork, email and fax exchanges before receiving the confirmation and supplying him with a copy for a smooth check-in. When he arrived at the hotel room in Fairview Heights one hour prior to his Friday night speaking engagement, the hotel staff told him he couldn't check in without a credit card. His written proof and explanation were no help. He called his advisor Jennifer Spangler at home for help. Jennifer found the home phone number for Deb Hart in the phone book and called her for help. Deb who was on her way out for dinner stopped by ICC, pulled the travel folder, and called Michael to tell him to go ahead and make his speech and that she would take care of everything. While Michael went on to the meeting, Deb secured the hotel room and called Michael to let him know everything was taken care of. Jackie Thompson of Student Activities says, "I think this is a great story of someone who really cares for students and wants to see them succeed!"

WOW to a Great Team Effort
Our new Youth Programs Coordinator, Erica Peterson, got a first-hand look at the spirit of cooperation on her very first day of work on October 8. Erica and I had gone to the AIT Building to drop off books for that evening's ACT Review course. It was the first night for the course, and we discovered that signs were no longer ordered for the hallways or the roadways. Knowing that it was the first night of class and that the high school juniors and their parents might be easily lost, we wanted to see what could be done.

Julie Packman sprang into action and made some impromptu signs to get the students and parents down the long hallway to AIT 254. Sue Storts, Mary Lawless, and Tammi Wennerholt caucased to see if they could find a possible way to create and laminate signs immediately, and Mike and the Campus Safety and Security staff found some old signs that were immediately put up along the road.

Erica witnessed how individual departments at ICC will go out of their way to help when needed. Thank you everyone!
