Teaching Techniques to Encourage Critical Thinking Workshop Series
Teaching Techniques to Encourage Critical Thinking is a hybrid workshop series designed to actively involve all participants as they learn methods for establishing classroom environments in which students develop an “intellectual language” and use “thinking moves”.
Through Blackboard, participants will view pertinent videos, engage with colleagues via discussion threads, and collaborate to develop units of instruction and/or assignments that can be used in the classroom immediately. Three face-to-face sessions will allow for further discussion and debriefing on the activities addressed throughout the week on Blackboard. Participants should expect to spend approximately 2 hours each week between the online work and in-person discussions.
Face-to-Face Sessions are scheduled for:
- Monday, November 11 – 4:30 – 5:30pm in 212C/D, East Peoria campus,
- Monday, November 18 – 4:30 – 5:30pm in 212C/D, East Peoria campus, AND
- Monday, November 25 – 4:30 – 5:30pm in 212C/D, East Peoria campus.
Participants should plan to attend all 3 face-to-face sessions.
Registration deadline is Wednesday, November 6. RSVP to [email protected] or 694-8908.
Questions about the series should be directed to Dr. Michael Boyd, facilitator for the series.
