Student Leadership & Engagement sponsoring writing contests

Student Leadership and Engagement is sponsoring two writing contests open to all ICC students. Please pass along this information to any students who may be interested.

ICC Student Writing Contest: Any ICC student enrolled in credit courses during the 2013-14 academic year may submit original work in one or each of the following categories:

  • Documented research paper
  • Creative writing/short story
  • Poetry/lyrics

All entries must be submitted to writingcontest@icc.edu, and are due by Friday, March 14, at 2 pm. Monetary awards will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

ICCTA Paul Simon Student Essay Contest: To enter, students must submit an essay of less than 500 words addressing the theme “How My Community College Has Changed My Life.” Essays must be received by Friday, March 14, at 2 pm. Entries can be faxed, mailed, or emailed. The winner of the ICC contest will receive $75 and be entered in the statewide competition. The statewide winner will receive a $500 stipend for educational expenses during the fall 2014 semester and will be invited to attend the association’s June 6 awards banquet.
