ICC’s College for Kids Combines Summer Learning with Fun
ICC again will offer area students an assortment of creative and educational classes during the 2016 session of its popular College for Kids program. The summer program features classes for students entering fourth through ninth grades. Session 1 runs Monday –Thursday, June 13– 23 and Session 2 runs Monday ─ Thursday, July 11– 21. Additional off-site Friday Fun Trips are offered from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm on each Friday of College for Kids. Registration opens Wednesday, March 16.
Participants may choose from a variety of classes in computer gaming, history, music, and more. One of the new classes being offered this year is Minecraft Designers, in which participants work in pairs in a new software program to design their own characters and create 3D models of objects and skins to import into their favorite Minecraft games. Another new class is App Attack, where students will explore the world of web-based mobile apps to learn the basics of mobile app design and game development.
Other classes include: Superheroes as American Mythology (Bigger and Bolder), From Cryptids to Creepy Pasta: Urban Legends Across the Globe, From Ragtime to Rap: American History through Popular Music, Babysitters Club, An American Girl Doll course, Tae-Kwon-Do, S.T.E.A.M. Education, and Magic.
Club CFK extends the day and accommodates working parents by offering activities for student participants following the final class session of the day until 5 pm. Club CFK features games, computers, and snacks from 3:15 pm to 5 pm. The cost to attend Club CFK is an additional $79. Students must be signed out by a parent or authorized adult no later than 5 pm each day.
Tuition is $79 per class unless a materials fee is noted. Space is limited. Registration will be available beginning March 16, by phone at (309) 690-6900, or online at www.icc.edu/cfk.
